extension cord with male plug on equipment end 1

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but here goes.

I have a piece of oilfield equipment which runs on 480V supply. This equipment has a 125 amp socket w/ disconnect swtich (Stahl 8581/11-407). Normally this receptacle would be the source of power from which we plug our equipment in. However, in this case we will have to run power to this receptacle and it is hardwired to the control panel. Essentially it is just used as a switch. The problem is we have to run an extension cord from a genset or the rig, which has a male plug on the end. If power is not disconnected at the source, then the male plug is hot. Can anyone give me a specific code reference that prohibits the end of the extension cord from being male?

If in the US, National Electrical Code 406.6(B) "Attachment plugs shall be installed so that their prongs, blades, or pins are not energized unless inserted into an energized receptacle or cord connectors. No receptacle shall be installed so as to require the insertion of an energized attachment plug as its source of supply"
