Hi Everyone
Obviously saw cut joints is a fairly basic concept but I've been wondering how people treat them in respect to what is done to the mesh, depth of cut and how cover to reinforcement is maintained.
There is the common cut every second bar, cut out every second square, depress the cut bars etc. I have also seen a strip of galv mesh called up by some consultants at the saw cut location. My primary concern is how the cover to the reinforcement is maintained. Its only an issue for the width of the cut. Does filling the joint with an appropriate sealant alleviate this concern? Am I over thinking this? You don't see spalling concrete pavements due to corroding reinforcement everywhere.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers.
