Hello To All,
I am writing this to gauge other experienced engineers thoughts on floating roofs for storage tanks. We have a client that has several tanks that are in use storing heavy pipeline fluids and light distillates. From what I am hearing there have been a few times where there has been an upset upstream of the tanks and a surge is sent to the tanks causing the roofs to lift off. Anyone have any thoughts or previous experience with this scenario. The tanks were built in the '50s and I am not sure of any integrity procedures done on the tanks. I appreciate your responses.
