We currently have 28 storage tanks 8 reactors and 4 premix vessels... we are about to pickup business from a shutdown of a sister plant. Any suggestions on how to handle storage of additional volume? The only thing I can come up with is Tank trucks loaded once product is in spec.Hold the tank truck in a depot until carrier picks up.

Don't store the product, pump the fresh product straight in the tank trucks, speed up the deliveries, hire few extra trucks, hire few extra drivers with prime movers...Sack the slow ones, hire fresh legs. If you're still short on ideas, turn the accelerator a bit down.
Just out of curiosity, are you producing heavy water or you produce alcohol? Lucky you, the shut down wasn't at your big brother plant, I could not help you there...

Directly into trucks is a difficult operation to control, especially if something goes off spec. Also has high risk of spills.
Seems like you should be able to manage tankage and coordinate trucks and loading times.

You should post to the Industrial Engineering site or link from it. They love these kind of problems.

Helpful to know the vapor pressure and emissions contraints (atmospheric storage?), pumpability (rental pumps?) how many tanker traiers could you park on-site til on-spec condition of product is contirmed? Incoming feedstock storage problems? Typically, reaction would be the bottleneck in most plants.

Another CPI plant bites the dust. Perhaps somewhere besides onshore.
