Extrude normal to plane other than sketch plane?

Pro/E appears to only let you extrude normal to the sketch plane. SolidWorks has a very simple option to extrude a sketch normal to a plane other than the sketch plane.

There must be an easy way to do this in Pro/E...

I've tried using the sweep and blend options with no success. Blend looks most promising, but it appears that I must do one closed loop at a time. I have multiple loops and even doing them one at a time, I can't get it to work well.

Anyone have any tips or pointers?

Thanks!

I like your User Name,

Parallel Blend may be an option Or a Variable Section Sweep. I can create a trailfile and post it here possibly.

With a Paralel Blend you can Sketch two identical sections and Specify The location of the Second based on the first and specify the distance between.

General Blend has a Select option that would allow you to select sketches.

Blend is the equivalent of the Loft Functionality for SolidWorks except Loft is easier to use especially with the 3d Sketches that Pro/E Can't do. Another thing to try would be a swept blend which is similar to a loft with one path and multiple cross sections.

Variable section sweep would let you select a Path for the Sweep and a Curve to control orientation. So just like on SolidWorks you could use a Line Sketch to control or keep the X-section Sketch normal to and Use a 3d Guide curve as a Reference the Sketch is based on So it will follow along it.

Please forgive sloppyness I selected Swept Blend instead of Variable Section Sweep (VSS) and I haven't really used the new version and was expecting Variable sweep options. Variable Section sweep uses newer ui than Blend or Sweep and can do constant section or variable section like SolidWorks sweep with guide curves. The Options tab lets you set this. The SolidSweep otion allows you to merge ends by extending to faces on end which is really the only reason to use that feature or to have it Close center of section.

You can play the attached trail file which should open the System Window from the Windows Menu I thought it was on Tools menu so more selections shown there.

To play the Trail file Step by step set the option
[set_trail_single_step] [yes] in Tools Options config.pro file without braces just space. This allows you to tap enter to run through the file line by line. Or set it to no to view video run through in hyperspeed.

To play file back select Tools > Play Trail Training file and open up text document from attached or uploaded zip file. Also make sure you have the Datums and Coordinate system displayed and it should run fine. If not load the Config-play.win as Customize Screen Settings and config-play.pro as Tools Options config file.

You can project your sketch onto the extrude direction datum & then extrude the projected section.
