I am trying to extrude a cut and have it stop 0.05" before a complex surface. In other CAD programs I've used there was an option in the extrude feature to do this along with the "Through All" and "Up to Next" options that Pro/E does have. Is there another way to accomplish this in Pro/E?

I have been trying to create a surface that is identical to the one I want to stop before, just down 0.05", but I haven't figured out how to do that yet either.

All help will be much appreciated!

Hi Matt

Offset the surface you are extruding to by .05, then create your extrude through until the offset surface. I don't think Pro/E can do this in one feature.

good luck

If you want the surface to have identical geometry and just be translated by .05 and retain the same radii or dimensions you can select the surface and do a CTRL+C to copy and then then select Edit > Paste Special from the top menu.

By doing this you can offset the surface in a direction but maintain the surface curvature so that it's identical to the original surface.

Use the To Selected option for depth the one with the red line and you can select the translated surface which will show as a Moved Copy in the model tree
