Extruding a 3D curve

I have dozens of data points that I am able to upload into solidworks using INSERT-CURVE-CURVE THROUGH FREE POINTS (if not in sketch mode). Once I can see the curve however I cannot do anything to it. I would like to be able to give it some thickness, extrude it, so to say. However I cannot grab it and extrude it because I cannot input the data curve while in sketch mode, therefore I can not modify the curve. If anyone knows how to give this 3-D curve some extrusion height, or how to input the points in a different manner, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

That's because it comes in as a Composite curve. Composite curves are great for Paths. The only way around it that comes to mind is create a 3D sketch and convert the composite curve. Then try to extrude it. You will have to give it a direction most likely. So another sketch with sketch geometry (Construction geometry) in it will suffice.
