I have a solid that I am extruding, the sketch is a rectangle and smaller than the entire part. I have tried extruded up to, next, selected surface, blind, everything but the software keep telling me that the protrusion is entirely inside the model. In the preview the solid is outside of the model extruding towards the part; if I use blind it goes through the part. the new feature is completely inside of the part, I can see it. Does anyone have a clue what this means. I have had this before and I can't remember what to do to fix it.

update - now the solid don't join together, I have logged out, restarted Pro/E, same results. I have solids that crisscross and the solids don't join. if I extruded away from the part using Blind I can see the new geometry and the software warns me that the new geometry is OUTSIDE of the part.
Hope this adds some insights.

Another thing to check would be that the Solid Icon in the Dashboard is checked. If it's not I know that Surface features don't allow or have problems with through next and other depth options.

Another way to do this would be to create the rectangular extrusion as a Surface with blind depth and check off the capped ends option. Then select the Closed Quilt and hit Solidify and Remove material.
