If using the screen type goggles that an outfit sells, wouldn't a person need the screen grounded to be effective they have an ad using an RF meter showing the reduction of energy with their ungrounded face shield?
For that matter any conductor could be used to abate the energy if it was grounded, correct?

No, the radar and microwave field, Be it E or H near field or the combined far field, does not elevate the potential of an object. A mesh screen absorbs the field energy and dissipates it as heat. If they are effective or not is another question. But grounding the screen or the object it protects is not necessary.
