F00017 inverter trouble

does anyone know what this means and how I can fix it? the laser doesnt cut or pierce for that matter. there ae no laser techs around here and would like to fix it myself if I could.

Need a lot more details. does inverter record and faults? what type Laser System? On PRC's for example the inverters are used to drive the turbos, sometimes cooling issues whether chiller or dirty heatsinks will cause them to fault out. also if your turbo is shot, it will fault out. where you located? I am in Massachusetts.

the laser is a Mitsubishi lvplus II . The laser was running fine until yesterday afternoon. I went thru the alarm history and found this error when the issue arose. I don't have any issue with the chiller as it is running just fine. the laser also starts right up and no alarms come up. there does seem to be a lot of spatter on the lens and spatter is also filling our nozzles. for now I had to shut the machine down as I do not want to cause any more damage to the laser . what other info were you looking for?

That is good info, hopefully someone is familiar with your particular laser. That is where the info really helps. Assuming your laser uses the inverter to drive the turbo, i doubt splatter has anything to do with it. Does your inverter have a digital readout? If it does, it may be throwing codes that don't show up on the controller. On our PRC's the Inverters will flash codes when they fault out, then we can look at the inverter documentation to see what it doesn't like. Does your Turbo sound healthy when running? if it sounds like it always does it may just be the inverter heatsinks are dirty. ours get dirty and causes faults every year or so. you could open the door to give it temporary airflow and put a fan blowing right on it. On our machine, we relocated the vacuum pump out of the laser cabinet because it generated too much heat which would fault out the inverter. never faulted again.
