Hi,

pressure vessel casted or forged out of ASTM A995-5A/F55/S32760 and a rating of ANSI 150. Will this vessel be able to withstand temperatures of -36°C to +100°C and still comply to ANSI 150 requirements?

thanks for the response,

This material has not been approved for use by ASME B&PV Code, Section II. Is this for a pressure vessel that is built to some type of code of construction or what?

If this application is outside of pressure vessel design code, I would qualify this material for use by impact testing.

metengr,

this is a valve body designed according to ASME B16.34. Thanks for the reply,

Ok. I have a copy of ASME B16.34 2004 Edition, and I see that F55 is listed as a material for use in a forged valve body.

For the service temperature range listed in this specification, if the actual service temperature falls below the recommended pressure-temperature rating for material Group No 2.8.

The minimum service temperature for F55 is -29 deg C. If the minimum design metal temperature falls below -29 deg C, you will need to run impact testing to qualify this material for use.
