Fabrication date of pressure vessels 1

Somebody says the fabrication date of one pressure vessel should be the date when it is completed before inspections of the third part. But I think the date should be the date of final inspection. Take a cellphone for example, the date should be the date when it passes the QA test. So anybody have other points? Standards or codes have rule or definition about the date? Thanks a lot.

The only fabrication date relevant to the pressure vessel is the date of hydrotesting, which must be engraved or visibly displayed in anyway on the nameplate, in accordance with the design code requirements. That will be the recorded date for the "birth" of that particular pressure vessel and will remain the reference date for the life of the vessel. In some places, the other next important date is the vessel registration date with the local government, as applicable. The registration date is considered as the date of beginning of operation, even if in reality the vessel will operate only weeks or few months later, when the plant will start operating.
