Hello,

Can someone explain a little a bit more about the ussage of Fac factor in Ceasar II with Asme B31.4?

As RichAy states in the linked thread, we are not allow to change Fac if we are ussing the buried pipe modeler.

1-When you are allow to change this?
2-When you use any number in Fac, you get an "OPE stress", while when you left it blank you get no allowable for OPE stress.
3-Why is it called OPE Stress, while the other stresses are called Code Stress?

Thanks a lot,

1) FAC is a generic input field used for different terms in different piping codes. In the case of buried piping, as the help states, this indicates the degree of restraint. When you use the Buried Pipe Modeler, CAESAR II sets this to a special value so internally the software knows the modeler was used.

2) B31.4 defines different stresses for different conditions (restrained vs unrestrained) of the pipe. In some instances you'll have an Operating (Code) stress defined by the Code and in others you won't.

3)The term "Code Stress" is a term we invented. It simply means a stress computed according to an equation defined in the piping Code.
