Face emphasis vs edge NX2-NX4 1

Is there a way to change the curser selection mode back to curve/ edge of NX2 vs the face orientated one in NX4?

Picking objects is harder/slower now than before. I have tryed changing the intent to single curve, but I'm still not getting the previous results.

OK, In NX 4 we replaced the 3 Selection Modes with 5 Selection Priorities. For the behavior closest to what you seem to asking for just press the "G" key, which will put you in Face Priority. If that's not quite right, try "E" for Edge Priority.

I knew there must be a simple solution.

If I recall correctly G used to be for general objects and F for features. I always kept it on features for the easy parameter editting. If I understand you correctly I'll now have to toggle back and forth? I'm not at work right now so I can't test it out.

Not quite. Prior to UGS NX 4, there were 3 Selection Modes which were exclusive, meaning that when it was set on "F" for Features, that was ALL that you could select. With UGS NX 4 we introduced the concept of 'priorities' rather than 'modes', meaning that when you are set to "F" for Features, Features are selected first, but ALL other object types can still be selected either because that was all that was available under the cursor or you use Quick Pick and get the complete set of object types in the list.

As for the old "G" being General, meaning Edges, Faces, Curves, etc, that was correct. Now starting in UGS NX 4, "G" means that Faces have priority since there is now an "E" for Edges and Curves. But remember, NONE of these 'priorities' are exclusive 'modes', but rather just an attempt to shift the priorities of what gets selected ahead of other types, but keeping them all selectable with something like Quick Pick. Our testing showed that the exclusive nature of the old 'modes' often frustrated users when it was obvious what it was they wanted to select but found themselves in the 'wrong' mode.

Anyway, give it a try when you get a chance, changing the options and seeing how selection behaves as well as how this plays when using Quick Pick.
