This problem is pretty simple but i have not yet used famly tables or relations but guess the solution involves them.

i have an assembly of a post with a roller on top. i would like to use this assembly 30 times but with each post shorter in height.
when the 30 posts are lined up the rollers form a slope so it's possible to drive the height of the post by its distance for the starting postion.

i'm currently editing 30 save-as's - what's the clever way?

You have 2 choices. If you need to manufacture the posts, then use a family table for the various post heights. The second option is to make the post a flexible component and then vary the height of each post in the assembly.
