Please assist I see Ballvalveguy measured the speed of a valve opening in 0.3 seconds. I have an application where I am using a Kinetrol Actuator and 3" Ball Valve with an Asco Solenoid to open a Valve in 0.5 Seconds. the only issue I am having is how to measure the speed of the opening. If anyone can assist that will be great.

Put a contact switch or potentiometer on the non-driving end of the shaft. Monitor solenoid valve voltage and the position sensor (switch or potentiometer) with a suitable recording device (e.g. digital data acquistion, oscilloscope). Once you have recorded an opening transient, look at the data and find the opening time. Alternatively, you may be more interested in the pressure or flow rate transient, requiring suitable sensors on the downstream piping run, but recording and measuring remain the same in principle.
