I moved to NX6 about 6 weeks ago and see the "Fastener Assemblies" function on the tool bar.

I'm designing tools not products and sometimes my customers want to see fasteners included. Mostly socket head caps and some occasional nuts. I don't like to do it but when I do I use part families from master templates to deal with the differnt lengths required.

Can anyone comment on this thing and wether or not it has value?

TIA

Dave

Which, using "fastener assemblies" or including fasteners in your assemblies?

I guess that was a little ambigious... my apologies. My interest is in the functionality of this module. Not having had time to look into what any help or white papers may say about it... I thought I would just throw out there what I do, and perhaps get a little feed back.

It's a useful tool. The concept of Fastener Assemblies is also useful, and there's a procedure mentioned in this other post: thread561-253645 that describes how to set up Fastener Assemblies so that all the fasteners in the full NX Machinery Library (more than just the reduced subset of fasteners in the Standard Parts library) are available for use.

I've downloaded the Machinery library and the install seems to "hang" at "Loading Libraries..."

In "Prerequisits" The instructions talk about zip files for each library and placing them in a specific folder.

Have I missed something casue I don't have any zip files in the data i brought down off the GTac site"

TIA!
Dave

@3dr, you probably forgot to download the zip files for each standard (ANSI-Inch, ANSI-Metric, DIN, etc) from
ftp://ftp.ugs.com/product_download/machinery_lib/nt/

Put those zip files where the instructions say to and then rerun the install batch file...

Yep, Thats exactly it. Juggling so many balls it's hard to get eben the little stuff strait sometimes!

Thx :)
