In Nx6 there is a new Fastener Assembly feature.
I have the problem to get a nut to the bottom stack, the washers to add works fine but there is no nut to add.
Reading the docs I should be able to add or to have an nut in the configuration - what did I wrong.

... I found it it by double clicking on the bottom stack washer then a dialog comes up to change to nut.
Can anybody tell me how to configure the fastner assembly file - I want to add other screws.-

too add to uwam2ie's request; has anyone out there written a new set of the xml files that control which fasteners are available for selection in the Faster Assembly Configuration? Basically it looks like by default NX ships with the ability to create Fastener Assemblies using the default Standard Parts. However, it would be great to extend this capability to include the greatly extended set of fasteners in the Machinery Library (which Siemens makes available for free).

This is seems to be primarily a tedious exercise in encoding the larger set of fasteners in the Machinery Library into the xml files which control the Fastener Assembly Configuration dialogue... it would be great if someone out there has already done this and wants to share with the community...

Thanks.

hi potrero,

where does one find this more extensive library?

i'm interested in using this fastening feature so i'll keep an eye on this post. :)

I think you basically have to download the more extensive library (ie: the "Machinery Library") from siemens (ie: ftp.ugs.com or support.ugs.com) using your WebKey user name and password.

...
to add ... the configurations you have done are store in the usersprofile can I redirect them with a variable to the server, where to control in a TC environment?

to answer my question above, concerning how to enable access, from the Tools>Reuse Library>Fastener Assembly dialogue,to the larger set of fasteners in the "Machinery Library"... Here's how:

1. Install the "Machinery Library" into $UGII_BASE_DIR/ugii/Reuse Library/Machinery Library (If you installed it somewhere else, you will need to delete the old install directory and reinstall into this location).

2. Add the "Machinery Library" into the Reuse Library list (Customer Defaults > Gateway > General > Libraries Organized by Native Folder... Put the "Machinery Library" entry ABOVE the "Standard Parts" entry (which is entered by default with the base NX install). See the attached picture for reference.

3. Move the three *.krx files from the "Standard Parts" folder into the "Machinery Library" folder. (FastenerAssemblyConfiguration.krx, HoleFastenerMap.krx, ReuseLibraryFasteners.krx). These files will update automatically to include all the available fasteners in the expanded Machinery Library.

Now when you next start up NX and launch the "Fastener Assembly" you should be able to see all the available fastener types in the "Machinery Library", as opposed to the reduced set of fasteners available in the default "Standard Parts" library.

Is there a process for setting up the machinery library at a network path and still get this work? Why do you have to install the machinery library under the UGII_ROOT_DIR to get those KRX files to update? I would like everybody working from the same shared machinery library.
