Fastening CFS to CLT Deck 1

Hey Guys,

So I have a situation where I am needing to attach CFS track to a CLT deck in a "bearing" condition, and then also in a "bypass" condition where the wall ges past the deck. I guess my question is have you guys done these before? How does the end grain factor and considerations work with CLT deck where each layer is perpendicular to each other.

NDS 2015 Fiure 12I is titled "End Distance, Edge Distance and Fastener Spacing Requirements in Narrow Edge of Cross-Laminated Timber." Good place to look.

You'll be specifying lamination directions, so you should know where within the thickness the end grain will show up. You'll have to be careful in detailing your connections to account for it, or just assume it will always be in the end grain for a more conservative design.
