Have you tried asking your IT team (if any) to ghost the other good machines and copying it to your troublesome machine?

Thank you for responding - and i am the IT team as weak as it it - i am in the process of networking my systems but havent completed the process - they share internet access at this point - i have tried clean install, upgrading from win xp home to xp pro, i have tried copying the files on to hard drive and then install from there - and also tried to run in win 98 - it goes thru the sign in and code functions fine - its when it starts initalizing - and gives this error

Fatal Error

Installation ended prematurely because of an error.

click (ok) is the only option
i would appreciate any help - thanks pam

OK!
So I'll go back to my first question.
Do you have access to the "Ghost" software?
Because that would be my only suggestion to overide any issues with installing.

Our It team here looks for every shourcut ... and that "ghosting" bit bails them out every time. [2thumbsup]

I'd get that software and delcare that every machine needs to have a standard set of software ... which what they did here. So that ends any arguement about machines having custom softwares.

hope that helps.

Rich,

Thanks again - for your response - I do not have access to ghost software - this is a home network and a growing part time business - i will see if i can get a copy of it somewhere is it very expensive ??? dont suppose you would be willing to help me finish my sharing process ??? then i could copy over from another system??? I have three systems 2 (dells) and a compaq - one win xp pro - win 2000 and win 98 - i have a 3 com hub and a netgear 314 firewall and road runner and aol for browsers...any suggestions

Sorry I couldn't help ... [sadeyes]

But the Ghost software is (full version) $35.00
Do a search for Norton Ghost 2002 or Symantec Ghost 2002 v7.0 .. same thing.

I hope that ... at least helps you out ... [ponder]
