Fatal error on LT2002

I am trying to edit a large file supplied by a vendor. When I try to add/copy basic functions on this drawing to explain some of it, I get a "INTERNAL ERROR: GEDIT 3", which then kicks me out of the drawing and shuts down autocad. Any ideas or suggestions?
