FATAL MESSAGE 9058 SESTATIC

I am trying to analyze (static stress analysis) a model (.stp file)exported into msc nastran for windows 2001 from Pro/E 2001. I keep getting an error "FATAL MESSAGE 9058 SESTATIC" when I run the analysis. The message also says that the model is being meshed with "plot-only" elements. Is there any way to resolve this issue or be able to mesh the model without plot-only elements. Please help.

Wouldn't it be better to export it from Pro/E as a parasolid file and then import it into Nastran?

This might sound like a basic question. How is parasolid different from a step file. Step file exports solids, how about parasolid; how are they different? I don't have to stick with step so I will try parasolid. Will exporting as parasolid solve the problem of the plot-only elements? The description of the error message says that the loads and constraints are not attached to any nodes. I will try your suggestion. Thanks again.

I'm not sure about step files, but I've had good success importing parasolid files into Nastran (for Windows). Regarding the plot only elements, the element materials and properties are usually set up first and selected at the time of meshing. Otherwise you have to go in and modify the element properties after meshing, which is tedious.

Also, if you have put the loads and constraints on the geometry, you may have to "modify, associativity" to attach the nodes to the geometry.

I do not see a parasolid file extension/option when I try to do as "Save as" in pro/E 2001. Am I missing somethign. Thanks.

I don't have Pro/E myself, but you'd think that it would be there somewhere as it is based on the Parasolid kernel I believe. The extension is .x_t
