I´d like to know where can I find information to study the fail in service of a ball bearing placed in a flap. The premature fail of the piece is believed to be caused by combinated action of fatigue under humid enviroment (long exposure to sea water ..)

thanks..

Raul,
Check the American Society for Metals ( They have great information on corrosion, metallurgy, and failures.

One item you might look at is stress corrosion cracking of your bearings. Sounds like you have an environment that might give you susceptibility to this condition.

Another source for corrosion info is the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE)( Their info is more general than ASM. The ASM publications are well done.

You might consider metallography on the bearings to give you a probable cause of failure.

Good luck.
