FCAW-S for welding API 650 TKs

Dear mates,
I´d like to receive any feedback about the topic, since that welding process looks like quite light for welding TKs, mostly using rutilic E71T1 as a tubular filler metal.
Any input will be appreciated.

There is no issue with using gas-shielded flux-cored wire for API 650 tank construction so long as you have a qualified weld procedure and qualified welding operators.
 
It is not gas shielded, but self shielded (FCAW-S), which is quite different.
 
E71T-1 is gas-shielded. Please see the below references. However, if you have an appropriate self-shielded consumable, weld procedure, and qualified welder, there is no reason that you cannot use that consumable and procedure for construction of API 650 tanks. Remember that you must meet the minimum requirements for toughness and low hydrogen electrodes where necessary in the standard.
