Our FCC power recovery expander vibration levels climbed 2 mils in 2 days. We suspect catalyst deposits on the blades. It is a 2 stage expander. We're currently down on feed and the expander isolated for spalling through thermal cycling. My question, is thermal cycling the only way of removing hard catalyst deposits from the blades? Obviously without going into the expander itself to clean it.
