Hello everyone!!!

Could anyone help me how to conduct an FEA fabric analysis..The Application is lifting a cargo bags using using polypropylene polyester strap..I know how to conduct simple FEA analysis in solid part....But this one needs to consider the weft and strands of the straps..Is there a method or plug-ins for this type of analysis???

Anyone, pls. help..

Unless you own a supercomputer I suspect you will end up modelling the strap as a a specific solid material, with certain unusual material properties.

Thanks Greg...It is greatly appreciated-----cheers..

Interesting problem. In more capable FEA systems, the webbing could be modelled with membrane elements. Not sure how to pull this off in COSMOS.

I don't see how the problem is any different from using ropes for lifting, other than the propertiea would need to be found. It's just a hand calc to determine the tensile forces of the slings at some angle, surely?

" this one needs to consider the weft and strands of the straps."

That's the weird bit.
