FEM on UG

Hello,
I'm learning to use UG and I'd like to know how the FEM works.
I want to do this through an exemple of a square 10''long bar of 2in sides fixed at one end and free at the other where a vertical force is applied to the bar horizontaly placed.
Can any one give me the steps to follow, brief ones so I can get familiar with it?
