Hi all

A friend of mine is trying his knowlege in finite elements structural analysis using dedicated soft (COSMOS/M) and he got there a lot of options (element type, simulations etc.) I've heard that in CATIA V5 Generative Structural Analysis only 2 types of elements are provided (tethraedric and shell - in advanced mesh capability )I've got the oportunity to compare these two method on a surface plate designed in two difrent ways - Meth1. - surface created in Generative Wireframe and Surface workbench - add material - mesh in Advanced mesh (shell elements) - restraint -loads in Structural Analysis and I've got a set of Von Mises stress matrix solution.
Meth2.- surface created in G.Wireframe workbench- go to part design workbench-add thickness ( the same value as that imposed when I've meshed in Meth1.)- add material (the same material)....and then go to Structural Analysis and mesh done by tethraedical element (the only one provided) - loads and constraint as in M1.....but difrent results in stress Von Mises Solution....The question is where do I make it wrong...?Does anybody know some reference in this case of problems? (are INSIDE CATIA/CATIA REFERENCE GUIDE by Karman& R.Kozens providing such kind of info?)

Regards to all and thanks in advance?
p.s. by the way, which of the 2 books (up) are better suited for medium and advanced problems in CATIA
