hi,

i got the
FEMA 273
FEMA 274 commentary,

i would like to know if there is a more up to date code for seismic design in the US (expecially for seismic isolated structures)

can anybody give me a list of the codes and guidelines adopted in the US for seismic design or more in detail for seismic isolation?

thanks

You should be using FEMA 356 and 357 as these reference will replace 273 and 274.

As for seismic isolation there are a few reference out there but not many. Here are a few:

Seismic Isolation for Earthquake Resistant Structures (Advances in Earthquake Engineering)
by P. Komodromos

Design of Seismic Isolated Structures : From Theory to Practice
by Farzad Naeim, James M. Kelly

The Seismic Design Handbook
by Farzad Naeim (Editor)

thank you!

where can i download the files?

Fema 356.pdf
Fema 357.pdf

and...can i do it for free?!

if i make sure there's no change in the section on seismic isolation i'll keep following the fema273-274
what do you think,Qshake?

go to and look for the publications or do a search at that website.

I think that will be acceptable if thats what you want.
