hello
I am using Femap 10.3 and have modeled some surface connected with glued contact
the behavious seems to be correct as expected, but can someone please help me with the different glue outputs, what they mean, units, etc ?

-glue normal traction
-glue traction (total, T1, T2, T3)
-glue force (total, T1, T2, T3)
-glue moment, (total, R1, R2, R3)

which one of these compares to the adhesive properties (usually shear and tensile strength in MPa)

in the connection region dialog box, you can chose output amongst nodes, curves or elements, does this have an influence on the results above ?

thanks in advance

Hello!
With NX NASTRAN the glue tractions, which are similar to the contact results, are calculated and stored at the grids which are on the glue surfaces. The normal component of the tractions is a scalar (Glue pressure) while the in-plane (tangential) tractions are output vectors in the basic coordinate system.

For an edge-to-edge and edge-to-surface glue pair, only forces and not tractions are recovered. Glue force recovered on axisymmetric element edges is force per unit radian, which is consistent with applied force and reaction force for these elements.

• If you want to define a GLUE SURFACE-type region, then choose "defined by = surfaces" and "Output = elements"
• If you want to define a GLUE EDGE-type region, then choose "defined by = curves" and "Output = nodes", like in the next picture, this is critical:
