Hello!,
I am pleased to inform you that FEMAP v10.2.0 has been released. The master FEMAP v10.2.0 has been shipped to manufacturing and will shortly be shipped to Maintenance Customers. FEMAP v10.2.0 is available for download from the GTAC FTP server, in the FEMAP - Full Product Releases section at (WEBKEY required).

FEMAP v10.2 includes numerous new features and enhancements requested by the FEMAP user community and resellers worldwide. The latest release of Femap, version 10.2, helps improve productivity by streamlining the meshing process with extensions to the interactive Meshing Toolbox. Version 10.2 brings significant performance improvements when postprocessing results data and new methods of visualizing beam element results that help speed results comprehension. A new Topology Optimization module is now available that can suggest the best design for a given set of boundary conditions. FEMAP 10.2 ships with NX Nastran 7.1 and extends support of NX Nastran with edge to glue connection support, and Nastran in general with extended support for model checking, frequency response and rigid elements. There is a new forced response capability inside FEMAP that allows interactive dynamic response studies. In addition, there are numerous other customer driven enhancements included in this latest version of FEMAP.

New Features of FEMAP v10.2
===================
• New Meshing Toolbox tools and capabilities including Mesh Surface and Geometry Editing and Feature Editing.
• Postprocessing enhancements including performance improvements, beam postprocessing, and a new Postprocessing Toolbox that consolidates View options
• Topology Optimization
• NX Nastran 7.1 Support including edge to face glued connection, Nastran model checking support, improved frequency response support, and rigid element extensions
• Interactive dynamic forced response analysis capability.
• Quick model clipping plane.
• Customer driven updates including improved graphical output, update node merge improvements, improved quad contouring algorithm and node distance measuring tool

Complete details of the new features and bug fixes in FEMAP v10.2.0 (as well as all releases back to v10.0) can be found in the /pdf/readme.pdf file that is installed with FEMAP v10.2.0. Also, you are invited to visit out website with videaos & pdf files describing the new features:

Hello Blas,

Did you notice any performance issues with this version? As a reseller we get some reaction from customers who say the previous version (v10.1.1.) could handle large models (up to 1e6 nodes) much better.
We don't have these issues our selves and don't know where to look for, because this poor performance is found with high end systems.

Hope you can share your experiences so far.

is this news ? ... we've had it for a couple of months ... i haven't noticed much difference, 1 thing i've noticed is that they've changed the .MOD extension to .MODFEM (no biggie, but why?)
