Ferri- and ferro-magnetism 1

I have been finding it hard to get an answer to this question so I turn to you for help.

I would like to know of a test/measurement which can determined whether an iron oxide exhibits ferri- or ferromagnetism?

It isn't a simple test, one would need a dedicated lab to get accurate results.

One distinguishing characteristic of ferrimagnetic materials is its behavior above the Curie point. As observed by Neel, the inverse susceptibiity of ferrimagnetic material is non-linear above its Curie point. Ferromagnetic materials display linear behavior. The nonlinear behavior arises because there are two magnetic structures within ferrimagnetic material.

Most common iron oxides are ferrimagnetic. Can you explain why you need to know?
