I started work recently as a rotating equipment engineer and currently studying by myself with compressor.
and while studying I just wonder about few failure modes
Failure mode
1. If pressure does not build up properly due to old(reused) impellers, can these cause rotor imbalance as pressures are not balanced and lead to resonance?
Old impeller --> pressure build up is not sufficient (compare to data sheet) --> cause rotor imbalance --> resonance
2. Also can missing part create a crack on impeller?
(when part is separated from original position and went into impeller, it hits the impeller and creates small crack which can lead to a large crack.
3. What is the meaning of impeller excitation?
does it mean impeller is not fix properly to shaft and dangling and create vibration?
