Hello my smart, talented, and above average looking engineer pals!

I am wondering how I can use a standardized method to design an axial load transfer from a fiberglass element to a steel one. The steel plate will be slotting into the fiberglass sleeve. I don't want to use anything that is proprietary or guilty of black box engineering.

Thanks in advance.

What does the sleeve look like? Short sleeved, long sleeved, single button or two button cuff, elbow patch too? Remember, we can’t see it from here, and we can’t read your mind either. Maybe a few views, sketches, with dimensions, thickness’, sizes, loads, etc. would help in showing what you are looking at, and need help on. Is the fiberglass part reinforced, thickened, in the region of the connection? Good old fashioned engineering and Strength of Materials knowledge should be just fine. But, you must obviously pay attention to the different strengths and particular nature of the two materials.

Sounds like the tail wagging the dog! Agree with dhengr....need something visual.

I've done fiberglass to steel in dynamic conditions (amusement ride at a "major central Florida amusement park"), so have some experience in similar....just show us.
