Field bending shear tabs

I have a big W33 with quite a bit of load on it. The W33 is at a skewed angle and it turns out that they had to heat the shear tab in the field and bend it (between a 1/2" to 1")to install the beam.

Does anybody know a reference to see if this is acceptable? Any other thoughts on field bending through use of heat would be welcome too.

Thanks,

How thick is the tab? - for a W33 with a lot of load my guess is its fairly thick. Personally I wouldn't allow it due to the residual stress which will be locked into a thick plate after heating and bending it.

This makes me nervous. Shear plates are not as redundant as double angle connections to begin with, and now you are basically yielding the plate before it sees load.

I would advise adding a stiffened seat connection below the beam ("belt and suspenders").
