Field variable variation

Hi all,

I have two questions:

1) How to vary field variable with depth along y-axis. I have used *initial conditions, type = field, variable = 1. It fails to work. I am attaching the inp file here.

2) How to vary the temperature with depth like we generally do by specifying initial conditions to define variation of void ratio with depth.

Kindly suggest how to proceed
