Figure in low suction valve

When calculating a fire sprinkler system, how do you figure in a low suction valve? How do you know if the system will work with it set at 60psi? I am extrememly new to designing and this is my first project with a fire pump and am not sure how to verify if the system works because I don't know how to figure in the low suction.
