pro/e 2001, say you have a part/assy already open how do you find which directory / location model belongs to...you can use windows explorer, search the name of file and find its location. But any options on Pro/E to show its directory/location after the model is opened, excuse if silly...raj.

Hi RAJ

Click on Info, Session Info, Object list. Find this file and open it, it should tell you the directoy for each part open up...

I think there was post in this forum about this subject, have a search.

If you're not using Pro/Intralink then I would suggest keeping all the parts, drawings and assemblies in one folder per project. Things could get ugly from a data management stand point otherwise.

Yup I tried doing what you had mentioned Info, Session Info, Object list, but it just displays all the parts and sub-assemblies in the file that open. Also it mentions the Disk info like other parts, dwgs, and assy in that folder but it doesn't show up the folder or location name....

You had mentioned "Find this file and open it", but ques is not finding the file, I ALREADY have a FILE OPENED, just want to find its location and nothing else.

Am I not following you peoperly!!!!!!!

Sorry Raj,

Try this, Info, Model, pick top level. Also set the following config.pro setting info_output_mode to "both"

Hope this helps

Tofflemire

info_output_mode
choose, screen, file, both

sets the default for how information is presented.

choose—brings up the info outputmenu where you choose whether to view the info on screen, write to a file, or both.

the other options set the default to one or both of these and does not prompt you with a menu.

this option applies only to the following info menu selections: names, model info, layer info, bomand audit trail. all the other info selections always present their outputs to the screen.

I am sorry but the result is the same, just gives me the components in that assembly and all the feature list, ids etc..It doesn't show up the location of the assembly in the system.....
I want to give it this way>>>>>

C:>>Folder name >>Folder name >> file name.asm

I chgd the config.pro settings too....any more suggestions......Thanks, Raj.

Pretty sure... going out on a limb again :)

If display_full_object_path is set to yes
in config.pro

if you do a info from assy. it will give you the full path in the inf file
otherwise if it's set no... I don't think it shows up in the
inf file

ooops... thinking again

Yup thats what I was looking for no more thinking cadcamguy (thats your name :), thanks and I also appreciate all other responses- Raj.

Hi RAj,

Cadcamguy is correct, I had that set just forgot about that setting, that was why I was getting the path to show...
