Hi all,

Do welders, who are qualified for Groove Welds (diameter: 0.5 inch thickness:2.77mm , position : 6G), also qualify for 3/8 inch socket welds?

Could you please clarify?

Thanks

I checked it but confused about commentating. This the statement is "In addition, welders and welding operators who pass the required tests for groove welds shall also be qualified to make fillet welds in all thicknesses and pipe diameters of any size within the limits of the welding variables of QW-350 or QW-360, as applicable". What does "all thicknesses and pipe diameters" stand for? What I understand is, for Fillet Weld Qualification by Groove Weld Tests , if i am qualified for any groove weld, i can weld any diameter for socket weld..right? I am really confused.

Don't overthink it. "All" means "all."

Your sizes would normally be limited by QW=403.16 and QW-404.30, except as permitted by QW-303.1.

Table QW-452.6 might help convince you.

Thank u very much trottiey for ur kind helps..
