Back to my old question, Any one has any idea about how to make a 'filter' in SW??

Thanks,

Are you looking for only modeling or further CFD/FEA also

Thanks for your try Gurjjeet, but unfortunately I could open the file,

And yes, I need the filter inside a chamber for CFD, now, FloXpress gives me the inlet error which seems to be b/cz of the filter, it does not recognize the filter as a filter (which can pass the fluid throu), it did work out when I removed the filter just to track down the problem.

cardiomed,

Modeling the filter with its pores it nuts as has been discussed in previous posts; you would need a CRAY. I am no CFD guy, but can't you assign a porosity property to the appropriate surface of the filter?

If you really have to know how the filter performs with its modeled holes I would think you should model and analyze just a small portion of the filter, determine the relevant properties and assign those to the filter element in the larger model.

I did use MESH in APPEARANCE future to create holes on its body, but CFD dose not recognize it,

I need the fluid behavior inside the chamber/housing which contains (or flow passes throu) the filter,

Thanks for your comments anyways,

cardiomed,

I meant within your CFD software assign porosity properties to the filter.

SolidWorks is a solid modeling software. You can model the pores, but this would be an incredibly computationally intensive model just to create all the holes. I would expect it to be just as intensive if such a physical model were imported into the CFD software. I believe your answer lies within the CFD, not SolidWorks.

If I got you correctly, you are saying that I would be able to assign/define this part as a filter (or create holes in it) some where else in other software like ANSYS or something like that??

If this is doable then that's fine (which Im not sure) but if not then at this point I need to get the solid part ready as a real filter then I would import it into some where else if I had to.

cardiomed,

You're not going to be able to do what you want to do with flowexpress. It's just not powerful enough. The only way to get it to give you the information you want would be to create a seriously f*&$%ed up model scenario that it can analyze within it's limitations and even then, the reporting you are going to get is near useless for any serious type of engineering. If you need real CFD done with results that matter you're going to have to outsource or buy a real CFD package.
