Local Authority is recycling glass through a hammer mill, glass bottles, etc, stored outside (wet), the hammers are wearing out fairly rapidly, (8 hrs operation), the council are looking into the hammer tip problem. My query is that the end product is vibrated over a steel plate with approx 6mm dia holes, the combination of the glass shards coming out of the hammer mill & the moisture content of the fines is blocking the top plate holes & channelling all material (< 1mm) into the 'oversize' catchment bin.

IN A NUTSHELL HOW DO YOU KEEP THE TOP PLATE (& THE LOWER PLATES) FILTER HOLES FREE???????? I know one of you will have an viable answer - giv us a solution

You need to get rid of the moisture. Perhaps a thermal bake?

I would consider increasing the amplitude of the vibrations and adjusting it so that the direction of vibration is primarily perpendicular to the surface of the screen, rather than along the axis of the screen. Your primary problem is from pieces of glass that are small enough to become wedged into the screan, but not small enough to pass through. You need to eject these pieces. Another option may be strategic and intermittent air pulses to blow out the obstructions.
