Find directory/location of a part from that part 1

How can I find the directory/location of a part, assembly, or drawing from the part, assembly or drawing? I can go to Pro-E "file open" and find the part, but then I do not now what directory it is located in, so that I can save a change or a new drawing. I can do a Windows search, but it is slow. There must be a way to do this in Wildfire.

Hi,

In config.pro set "display_full_object_path" to "yes". Now the windows title bar will show you the path from where the component was retrieved.

This works well, and I can now see the path. But, there is a problem. If the part is an instance, the drop down window of open parts shows the path, except for the instance name. So, if I have several instances of a generic open, I have to open parts until I find the correct instance. Any suggestions?

You lost me here. The instance name must be shown both in the window title (just before the path) and in the 3D space area.

Here is an example. My title bar shows the following when I open the instance an3-14 from the generic an3_to_20.prt:

AN3-14(Active) I:\stdparts\AN3_TO_20.PRT.26

If you want another instance to open, just open (from memory) the generic AN3_TO_20 and choose the right instance.

Or you can always do a RightMouseButton on the instance and choose INFO->MODEL. (For ProE2001, but must be similar in Wildfire) You will see all info about this part.

I don't know if I answer to your question because I really didn't understand it very well.
