We use part numbers as names for configurations of parts. Is there a way to find those part numbers with a Windows search box. (if you do not know which part file they are in)

If you have PDM you can search for a Configuration name from vault.

If you do not have PDM in use, you can use a workaround. This might not give you the search capability but may help you.

open the folder containing file in file explorer
Set the View to "Details" so that you can see size & dates of the files.
Now RMB on file & write the secong part name in "Title"
Now RMB on headings(File,SIZE, TYPE etc.) & select "title"

Now you can see them in your file explorer.
I think you can search for this property in "Windows 7", I use XP so cannot tell you for sure.

Bit lengthy way, someone else can suggest a better/quick way as I am not a master of "Windows"
