Hello,
I am working on a project where I am looking for the push force to fit a stringer into a tight fitting tool. To do so, I decided to start with a basic model of a solid rod entering a tube. (Shown in figure)
There will be friction as the rod is slightly larger than the tube diameter. Translating this into Abaqus, I am applying a displacement so that the rod is inserted into the hollow tube. Note that the force has to surpass the point of static friction. How can I do this in Abaqus to get the push force at the top of the rod? Additionally, what could be a way to check if this force is correct? Any advice would greatly be appreciated. Thank you!
