hello everybody. I have a force applied to the side of a solid I-beam structure.i have the option of calculating the neutral axis theoritically. but is there a way i can find the neutral axis by using abaqus output? I am using solid elements.if i find a way to caluclate the neutral axis then i can impliment the same technique to my model which is much complicated but the foundation is the same as a I-beam . Thanks

I think in modal or dynamic analyses Abaqus works out the inertias of the structure.

corus, is the moment of inertia about the neutral axis is written in .sta file or any other file in abaqus. Are u aware of it? Thanks.

Why not run a test case for which you know what the inertia is, then check all the files that Abaqus produces to see where the information is kept and to see if the inertia is about the neutral axis.

i did run a test case but cldnt find the moment of inertia anywhere.i wonder if i have to declare a card for it??
