Finite Element Analysis Slab Reinforcement

While working on CSI safe, I often find the software showing additional bottom reinforcement required near the columns. I cant really understand why is that especially that there will beams at those location with sufficient bottom reinforcement. For reference, I attached the plan I am working on with the software slab reinforcement in Y direction.

I did some experimenting, this has to do with the columns not resting on the beams' center line. When I move the columns to rest on the beams' center line. the software does not require any bottom reinforcement. This probably has to do with how the finite element method works. I am starting to regret not taking up a FEM course.
 
Yeah, I have been using the software Auto meshing. For what it's worth I don't rely on the software yet to do the full design, I do manual calcs. But I started building SAFE models on the side to compare results. The training I got was basic and did not address meshing. Will do further study in FEM soon.
 
I would make a backup and start testing options to achieve the results you are looking for. It is easy to draw simple linework and subdivide the floor into logical breaks. That will usually result in a better automesh. I think you would need that regardless so you can release bending or shear forces where you want. You could also set the automesh size very small so you have a finer mesh. This seems to be a tiny model, so computational time is likely not critical.
