I noticed Large box warehouses, ESFR system with Fire Pumps that have remote Fire Department Connections that are run with 6" to the Storz Connection.
I referenced NFPA 13, 2010 Addition and did not find a specific 4" or 6" requirement.
I lookup the friction loss for 4" (1500 GPM) and its not doable thru 4". Is fire department Pumper Truck trying to over power the fire pump ???
What is the Logic???

FM Global DS 2-0 requires that the fire service connection be at least as large as the largest sprinkler system riser it is intended to supply. Could be that you're looking at a system that was designed per FM Global requirements.

You are assuming the FDC is intended to deliver some quantifiable flow to the sprinkler system. It is not. The FDC is only there to supplement the fire sprinkler system. There is no flow requirement for an FDC on a sprinkler system.
