I have been searching for the requirement of Fire hose cabinet in IBC & NFPA for so long. I have gone through many threads to get the idea but still there is lot of confusion. I have done some projects wherein I have designed a sprinkler system for buildings less than 9.1m heights and I have not provided any Fire hose cabinet in them as per IBC 905.3.1. But now I have a project which is a site adaptation. The Building is a mosque and was designed by some other consultant. I am wondering why 2 hose valves are provided in this mosque. As per code, this is a light hazard building and the maximum height is 8.8m. I am redesigning it and i am looking if the Fire hose Valves (Not Fire Hose Cabinet) are required by the code.
PLEASE SUGGEST ME WITH EXACT CODE REQUIREMENTS. I HAVE ALSO MADE HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS. I AM GETTING 200GPM WITH 50PSI DEMAND PRESSURE WITHOUT ANY HOSE. IF IN CASE I PROVIDE A HOSE, DO I HAVE TO REVISE THE CALCULATION TO GET MINIMUM 65PSI AT THE HOSE.
YOUR QUICK RESPONSE IS MUCH APPRECIATED.

1. Is the local authority requiring it?? If so ask them for code section

2. What code and edition is adopted by local authority??

3 any true stage, horizontal exit

STAGE. A space within a building utilized for entertainment or presentations, which includes overhead hanging curtains, drops, scenery or stage effects other than lighting and sound.

Thanks cdafd for your response.
1)I have not discussed with local Authority. I want to find the exact code requirement to discuss this matter with them.
2)The local Authority adopts International Building Code.
3)There is not Stage in this building.

Sorry read the op fast

ASK the consultant for the reference

Does not seemed to be required

Should have asked also where exactly are the two valves Being shown?????

The Fire Hose Valves are shown at the two opposite exterior walls of the mosque. If I try to keep the Hose Valve as it is then the pressure requirement is increasing and may require a Fire Pump.

So it sounds like maybe not enough fire hydrants close enough to the building ????

Thanks cdafd for your response. We do have Fire Hydrants. But thats the thing I am looking for. Is there any code requirement for such situation. If yes then will it not increase the pressure requirement for the building.

Have seen it a few times, kind of a ahj compromise.
Normaly because of problem withe fire truck access to some exterior portions of the building

Would go back to consultant and ask why he required them

Ok then, I will clarify this with my Main Consultant. Thanks for your Concern.
