Hi
We have 2 turbo-alternator- boiler fed by coal and bagasse. For the 2nd time we had a fire in the bagasse tower and this time the damaged caused is more important. The rubber belts on 3 different conveyor belts are located at different level. On the conveyor belts there are sprinklers. The sugar cane crop season has finished in December. So the conveyor belts were all stopped and not in operation.

We do not know the real cause of the fire. One possible cause is that boiler 1 tripped at around the same time as the fire. When the boiler trips, the pressure inside increases and sparks may come out at some points from the boiler. Usually after the crop season, there are usually some deposit of bagasse at various places in the bagasse tower. However, the fire occurred on the side of boiler 2 and not on boiler 1 which tripped.

Can you please advise what type of fire sensor we can install in the bagasse tower to prevent such incident? During the crop season, the bagasse tower usually has bagasse dust in the air.

We already have a fire alarm panel with smoke detectors connected to it. We have 3IR sensors on our turbine. We have 1 flame detector in our bagasse store.

Thanks
