Fire sprinkler and fire wall requirement in utility room

I have a utility closet for water heater and furnace on the back of my house (residential). The side and back walls of the closer are common with living quarters. Normally, a 1 hour fire wall is required. My question is, since I have sprinklers in the house as well as the utility closet(required due to distance to fire hydrant). Do I need 1 hour fire wall between the utility closet and the living quarters?

more than likely no about the only required rated wall in a home is between the garage and rest of the house

have you asked your local building department some cities add more requirements than what is in the base code

Can someone point me to portions of the code that might deal with this? It seems like that it is some given requirement to have fire rated wall between utility room and living quarters, but none has been able to tell me which code or portion thereof that spells this out.

You would need to tell us what building code and what year edtion that the house was built under before a possible answer could be given. you can contact your local buildng department to find out what code the house was built under, and also they should be able to answer your question.
